With the rapid development of technologies such as WLAN and VoIP, the need of providing power over Ethernet (PoE) is becoming more and more urgent. PoE technology, which can transmit data and provide power at the same time, has attracted more and more attention and been widely used in various industries.

To improve the knowledge and understanding of PoE technology, and promote the application of this technology, UTEPO CTO Tide Nie was invited as a guest speaker of the Innovation Conference in PoE Technology and Application, which was held by Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology on April 11, 2019 in Shenzhen science museum. At the same time, one of the invited guest speakers was Zhang Yi, the former chief engineer of the design institute of China Mobile Communications.

In the lecture, Mr. Tide Nie made all-around exposition on the SWOT of PoE, the overturn of POE technology bring to traditional power supply and data-transfer. He also explained in detail base on POE products system, corollary equipment, innovative technology, typical application and solutions. And Mr. Zhang Yi made a detail exposition on the PoE Technology and Applications White Paper, covering PoE development, features and its bottlenecks. By this lecture, all participants had been clarified with PoE technology. Some of them actively consulted and communicated with experts about problems and doubts in POE application. The participants also felt it was very rewarding to take part in such industry exchanges and learning activities, and they had a more comprehensive and systematic understanding of PoE technology, and they were full of confidence in the future of this technology.

PoE provides users the ability to deploy powered devices at any location, regardless if the electrical outlets are present. It is this characteristic that makes Ethernet the ideal default cabling medium that will connect the smart building of the future.
